I post this article partially because of personal interest int he care and feeding of all things Linux and UNIX. The other reason is because Famine has already expunged Micro$oft from all machines in his home that are used regularly. His work machines have also been wiped of the Redmond scourge and replaced with items that do not ask you the same question fifty times even though you already answered it the first time. Hmmm, makes one think that the Windows Operating System is a female entity, doesn't it? But, I digress.

Anyhow, with computers in general and, more specifically, computer parts like processors, memory and hard drives, there is no reason you could not either have a separate machine to try things out on, or to simply install a second hard drive (though I would personally install a removable drive kit if I were you) filled with open source goodness.

Go ahead, live a little. More importantly, live free!
