I have to censor myself because if I said what I was thinking right now...

If you CHOOSE to not eat meat, I applaud you for having the strength and will to do so. It is a learned behaviour to not do so. I suppose you can also argue that to eat meat is a learned behaviour as taught to us by our parents from when we started chewing solid foods. Regardless, I believe that it has been proven many times over that very few animals on the planet possess the ability to choose; most are driven by instinct. Even those with the power of choice have to bow from time to time to their instinct because it is so strong. Homo Sapien is at the top of the food chain because of our intelligence and our ability to reason and choose our path in life.

Most, not all, food eaten by humans do not possess choice. I would not even enter the religious aspect because it has no place in this discussion. I will simply work with nature's law of the survival of the fittest. Humans, for better or for worse for this poor planet, are the dominant species on this planet. We survive temperature changes, warfare, natural disasters and we keep on coming. Many animals have disappeared because of humans but many have survived and thrived because of humans as well. If another animal wants to take the mantle, go right ahead and do so. However, until that time, we get to decide what happens around here.

And I will tell you, I am MUCH happier that the Colonel decided instead of training his chickens to dance in time to music or to tap out poetry on a computer, he figured out what spices and seasonings work best when they are chopped up, dipped in batter and dropped into a fryer. Maybe it is just my fat ass talking but give me dinner before giving me a pet.

Specifically to PETA's latest disgusting taste in ads, I can only say that it is par for course with them these days. There are simply not enough words or time to express just how pathetic, distasteful, insensitive, ignorant, compassionless, arrogant, crass, hurtful and just plain wrong and spiteful this is and the so-called celebrities that support PETA (Ahem, Ms. Anderson, are you listening?) should PUBLICLY and LOUDLY proclaim how much they are distancing themselves from PETA in this regard. Hmmm, I guess there were enough words and time after all. Shame on you PETA. Shame.

Peace.

Obviously Extreme Home Makeover needs to conduct "are they stupid?" tests first.

As per this story, one would think that if one had to go on national TV and beg for a reality show to come and help your broke ass, then one would think you would do everything you can to NEVER again be in that spotlight. Did these people really think that once the cameras left the street that no one would be watching them? Hello! You just got a BIG ASS house, the largest one of its time built by EHM, that towers over all the neighbours. Do you honestly think that those poor saps who work for a living are not jealous, envious and pissed that while they still are trying to make ends meet that you are living in the lap of luxury, all bills and ills taken care of?

And how dumb do you have to be to not know that the real estate and construction business is in the shit in the US so should be the LAST thing you want to invest money in that is NOT really yours. Did you secure a job to pay back that loan while you tried to get the business off the ground or did you expect everyone to hire you because you were on TV? Why not a proven franchise like Subway's or McDonald's or something recognizable and is a sure thing to bring back in money? Why not at least a proven business at least that is not as big a risk and is something everyone wants (i.e. gas station (I know it has its own issues), convenience store, coffee house). There are a number of different businesses they could have tried and succeeded at but they went looking for the big score. They gambled and they lost; they LOST a lot of OTHER people's money, hard work, kindness and generosity. They also lost everyone's respect.

I can see them getting money from the house to do something that helped themselves and helped other people in the process. I don't see how getting a loan of that size was for anything that trying to live higher off the hog since they had a taste of the good life and wanted it to continue long after the cameras were gone. There is absolutely nothing wrong with chasing the dream but there is something VERY wrong if you do so and yet AGAIN put your family in danger. The parent or parents of this family are severely negligent and should be ashamed of themselves. They should apologize to ABC, to the EHM team, to the builders, to the volunteers, to the city, to the mayor, to their neighbours but especially to their children. To put them family in the spotlight in such a negative light is simply unconscionable.

It's not just bad form, it's bad parenting. And it's just plain stupid.

You don't have to be black to understand...

But to be honest, it helps.

I am certainly not the person you will find crying foul about "the man" keeping me down or constantly lamenting the dragging of my ancestors over on slave boats or anything like that. All in all, I've let a fairly decent life with relatively few incidents of racism. However, I cannot dismiss that there are definitely people, like my parents, who faced and continue to face much more hardships brought on simply by the colour of one's skin.

I married a white, Jewish woman who I love dearly. Being Jewish, she and other members of her family have faced their share of prejudice and scorn. However, as I pointed out to her a couple of times in our years together, it is not the same and simply cannot be compared. While there are certain characteristics that are passed down in genetics of a Jewish family, most of those tend to not become prominent until the person grows older. For example, the hunched back, certain facials features, etc. The younger, modern Jewish person is typically not recognized as Jewish until they open their mouths and either use a known Jewish phrase or specifically tells someone they are Jewish. We are not so fortunate.

One is immediately identified as a black person from birth! It is simply a matter of looking at the person in question. Yep, I'm black. Always have been, always will be.

And it is in the outward identification that partially lies the issue. Humans are very visual animals so if they associate something with a particular image (i.e. in movies and theatre, the colour black is used to portray wrongness, evil, danger, death, negativity, low worth, etc.), then they have a hard time when the image is applied to something foreign to them. I do not believe that games, movies and TV should be blamed for this alone. Yes, early on they reinforced the stereotypes that branded a people harshly but what is the excuse for the here and now in 2008? Why are the black women still so angry? Why are the black men still leaving them with children ? Though that one may be answered by the previous question or is the cause of it. Why are the jails filled with black men and black youth? Why are the education and social programs geared to placate instead of actually helping uplift? And to borrow (and paraphrase) a line from Mr. Singleton's 'Boyz 'N The Hood', "Why is there a liquor store on almost every corner in the projects, Harlem and the ghettos of major cities but not the same in Beverly Hills and the O.C. and Martha's Vineyard and Park Avenue and the other affluent neighbourhoods in America"?

The answer is simple and the solution is almost as much. Don't frequent those businesses and they will close or change to survive. Don't feed and perpetrate the stereotypes. Keep the family together and if you cannot, at least ensure the members ALL survive and thrive. Don't look for the easy way to success on the backs of or in spite of your neighbour who has found a way to make good. Especially don't try to bring them down because your ass is too lazy to lift yourself up. All of these things are simple. NONE of them are easy.

And it does not just go for the Blacks/African descendants (I hate the new age terms), but for every easily identifiable immigrant and descendant of an immigrant including my Orthodox friends. We are all our worst enemy in this regard and we only need a modicum of control and thought to fix it. As the saying goes, if you are not a part of the solution, you ARE the f**king problem.

Peace.

Special Reports - Black in America

Editor's NOTE: I heard Nas on our local urban radio station, FLOW 93.5. I listen to a lot of different styles of music but I would have to say that Dance, Old School and Top 40 are my many genres of music. While I listen to a fair amount of Hip Hop, it tends to be either Old School Rap or more dance-like tunes; the mainstream stuff. I tend to find a whole album full of more self-serving babbling than anything I could get into. Hearing Nas' words though intrigued me to listen to the whole thing. So, to insure it was worth it, I do what I always do; I downloaded it off the Net. If I like an album, I buy it; the proof is the thousand or so CDs that we own. I will be buying this album and supporting the Artist. While I won't ever play it repeatedly, I will play it enough to hear and understand and interpret the words. I think that is what he wants us to do. The cover, as he explained it, came about from the pushback he received to title his album with the dreaded 'N' word. Since mainstream stores were not ready for the inevitable backlash that would come from doing that, he and a friend came up with the untitled album cover below. The image is SO powerful that putting ANY writing on the cover would have detracted from the image. It works and it is effective. I asked DW what she thought about the cover when I sent her the jpeg image. I did not say anything else because I wanted her honest reaction; it was much different from my own which further cements my comments above. That is not to say in ANY way that her impression was wrong; it was just different. Understanding that is what is going to bring this world closer instead of furthering the mess that we live in now. Peace.

Please comment on what were your impressions on seeing the cover. Thank you.

Everybody loves Chris Rock standup

OTTAWA - Anyone worried about being offended at Chris Rock's show last night should've stayed the f--- home.

NOTE: DW and I saw this at Rama on Tuesday night (thanks again Gemini) and this is the second or third time we have seen him. I do not know why they are saying his career needs resurrecting. Does the writer have hit movies? Nope. Does the writer have a hit TV show? Nope. Does the writer have a successful production company? Nope. Can the writer fill halls and auditoriums with everyone from underage teens with fake IDs to silver and blue-haired handicapped folks who would usually be welded to a 2-cent slot machine? Nope. So, exactly what does he need resurrecting? Personally, with all due respect to Mr. Shane Ross, on this subject he should just shut the f--- up.

One for the books

Anyone that knows me knows that I will probably speak to you via email or MSN before I do on the phone. As such, I am constantly seeing SPAM of all sorts (not just penis mail). The following is directed SPAM, as I call it, because there is a person behind the specific intent. I would make note of the email address and style so that you can avoid such people like the plague in the future. If you want to know why I accepted them in the first place, that's simple: no one uses their real names in their email anymore so until you connect, you have no clue who it is. That is one of the problems with how MSN is set up. As well, what do we want from something free from Micro$oft?

Enjoy.

It will be very interesting to see how this one plays out. If Psystar
wins, it will open the doors for MANY Mac clone companies to start
selling their goods. If they lose, which is probably what will happen,
it will possibly close the doors forever on me and my fellow Mac OS X
devotees of being able to freely and legally install the operating
system on the hardware of our choice WITH Apple's blessing and more
importantly Apple's help in terms of drivers and support.

I truly do understand Jobs and company's insistence on quality control
and keeping everything in house. One look at the range of crap to
crystal in the IBM PC world will tell you that you may not want the
same fate for your beautiful OS. That said, I can buy a $200 computer
WITH Windows installed on it. I'll drop the argument to allow Mac OS X
to the masses when Apple can deliver anything remotely close to that
price point.

Ciao.

Does this actually work? If so, cheaper than the Disc Doctor(tm)!

Rogers(tm) is on serious crack!!!

They would have been heroes, they would have had people lining up for blocks, they would have had huge positive press and good will... instead, they get the opposite of that and fuel the fire that they are a bunch of money-grubbing, greedy, non-client oriented boobs that don't have a clue. All Rogers had to do was match the price plans of AT&T and all would have been well. Instead, they tried to continue their cheating, greedy ways to nickle and dime their customers. It is why I dropped their Home Phone service and why I am working on dropping their Internet and TV services as well. I enjoy the service but they are NOT the only game in town and they need to start acting like it. Hey Ted, get a clue and pay some attention to your paying customers instead of just your sad sack baseball team.

The press release on the minor appeasement that Rogers has offered up is better than what they started with but no where near close enough to AT&T's offering. 6GB. $30/month. Unlimited. $10/month. Understanding the difference? Priceless.

This link will take you to the press release.

Ciao.

Dave Chappelle is one of the best observational comedians on the planet today. He is one of the few comedians that can get away with talking about anything, anybody, anyhow he damn well feels. He simply does not give a f**k what people think. Then again, maybe he does because his material hits exactly where we need him to. We WANT him to say that, we WANT him to make those observations public so that we can laugh about it together instead of being shunned as bad people.

Three Men on a Hike

Three men were hiking through a forest when they came upon a large raging, violent river. Needing to get to the other side, the first man prayed: 'God, please give me the strength to cross the river.'

Poof! . God gave him big arms and strong legs and he was able to swim
across in about 2 hours, having almost drowned twice.

After witnessing that, the second man prayed: 'God, please give me strength and the tools to cross the river'

Poof! ... God gave him a rowboat and strong arms and strong legs and he was able to row across in about an hour after almost capsizi ng once.

Seeing what happened to the first two men, the third man prayed: 'God, please give me the strength, the tools and the intelligence to cross the river'

Poof! ... He was turned in to a woman. She checked the map,
hiked one hundred yards up stream and walked across the bridge.

GO AHEAD , SEND THIS TO A WOMAN WHO NEEDS A GOOD LAUGH AND TO ANY MAN WHO CAN HANDLE IT!

A solemn anniversary

Unlike a wedding anniversary (ours is in two weeks) or other celebratory events, today is a sad day for us. One year ago, Gina Martin, one of DW's oldest friends, passed away after a hard fight against breast cancer. This morning, her husband contacted us for the first time in many months. It made us very emotional to both remember her passing and to hear from Jeff again after a prolonged absence.

To be perfectly honest, we were a little put off by not being allowed to be part of the grieving process and not being allowed to be the good friends we know we are to someone we know was in pain. We had to get over ourselves and realize that our loss and our pain pales in comparison to someone losing their life partner, their sister, their daughter. It's not about us. So, we waited until such a time that we knew would come; when Jeff was ready to reach out to us. That day we were sure would come because of the kind of person Jeff is.

We hope now that he is ready to let us assist him in any way he needs us to. He remains family and as they say in Lilo and Stitch, that means nobody gets left behind.

RIP Gina. We love you.

Peace.

40TH!!!

Just a quick post and then I will fill it in later (as I am rushing off to my function this evening). Okay, not so quick as I never finished writing it last night so I am finishing it Saturday morning.

Today started just a little different as a friend and colleague from work got in my very first birthday wish today. Thanks Sab. That was followed a half hour later by a message from my LB. Thanks Wiz. And that was followed by the call I expect every year and very few years has it been missed. As I was born around 5AM, my father calls me every year at 5AM to wake me up and welcome me yet again into he world. Honestly, at one point I got to hate being woken up but I quickly understood that it is a special thing to look forward to and the effort he makes to do it every single year is to be appreciated. And I do appreciate it very much. Thanks Dad.

And thanks to Mossy, DoubleD (who called before he drove down to Ohio with the family), my youngest niece, my oldest nephew, various FB friends, other folks at work, Keith, my MIL who sent a very nice e-card and finally, my favourite aunt in the world made sure to call to wish me well. I also have to thank Mossy and Penny, BB and EL, Skibum, Calgary girl, College boy and his girlfriend (and S in absentia), my cousin Weeble, her sister Flake and the girl with the nice rack that Weeb brought. Most of all I have to thank my wife you for a change was able to genuinely surprise me. First, she never told me that me that Calgary Girl was in town this weekend and coming with Skibum. Second, she was able to keep the secret that my brother, LB, his wife, SpecialK, and their two sons were coming down for the weekend so I was shocked to see him walk in to the pool area of Safari and it brought me to tears.

This was also an extra special time because the cousins I have not seen or talked to in a long time, for reason we will not print here, came out to celebrate with me. At 40, I decided that change was necessary but in positive ways. I took steps to start that change and it ignited and caught quickly so as I result, family is back in the picture. That is really the best present of all.

Thank you everyone for one of the best birthday ever. I won't soon forget this day. Much love.

Ciao.

Blonde Speed Limit

A police officer pulls over a car with a young blonde driver in it….

Cop : “Miss, this is a 65 MPH highway, why are you going so slowly?”

Blonde : “Officer, I saw a lot of signs saying 22, not 65.”

Cop : “Oh miss, that’s not the speed limit, that’s the name of the highway you’re on!”

Blonde : “Oh! Stupid me! Thanks for letting me know, I’ll be more careful from now on.”

At this point the cop looks into the back seat of the car, where the passengers are shaking and white as ghosts.

Cop : “Excuse me miss, what’s wrong with your friends back there? They’re shaking something awful.”

Blonde : “Oh… We just got off of highway 119”

Dang Canadian teams!

So, last night everyone lost. The Jays lost 6-4, not that it really matters. I will be a bandwagon jumper on that one. The Calagary Flames got knocked off 5-3 and are now out of the playoffs. I was really hoping Jerome Inginla and the crew would be able to pull it off against the Sharks but it was not the Kipper's best game and they could not claw their way back into it. And then there is the Toronto Raptors who, if they could simply f**king remember what the paint was, would have won their second game against Orlando and tied the series up. Nope, as in past years, laziness, settling for the outside jumper and not attacking the basket means we need to win the next four out of five to advance. Not impossible but we love to make things harder for ourselves than need be.

Other notable games last night had the hated Philadelphia Flyers advancing past Ovechkin and the Capitals. I really hate the Flyers and I super hate the GM, Bobby Clarke. I hope Les Habitants can allow me to finally say this season, "F**K You Bobby Clarke!" Also on the losing end was the Pheonix Suns once again to the Spurs. I like Manu and Parker and even Duncan but as a whole, I can do without seeing San Antonio in the playoffs. I hope Nash and Shaq and the crew can get it together, cowboy up and get the job done finally. Dallas once again was made to bend over and lube up for Paul's New Orleans Hornets. That's one of those beatings where the parents invite people over for food and drinks while they retell the story of how they dished out the licks to you. Cuban has to be super pissed.

Games of note this week include Montreal versus Philadephia, Toronto versus Orlando, Lakers versus Nuggets, Celtics versus Hawks and King James' Cavs in action.

Ciao.

An interesting look at a growing problem.

Not everything in the world is evil.

Would I have done the same if I could have?

I would have to say I probably would not have but as time wore on, I definitely could see myself snapping and doing it. The "it" would be to jump on YouTube or some other viral video site and say what I really want to be said about my ex-wife. The only reason I ever back screaming from the rooftops about the horrible person and mother she is was that it would hurt my daughter. In the end, not outing her may have hurt TC more than anything. Anyhow, in the grand scheme of things, I think that this woman hurt her case and is now going to be perceived as some kind of whack job and vindictive person. In the end, because she did not show some modicrum of control, people will distance themselves from her except for those in her innermost circle. And you have to wonder if there is anyone left in that circle if she had to resort to this public display instead of talking to them. It doesn't affect us directly so like anything else, we can laugh and revel in someone else' pain and thank the stars it is not happening to you.

Who knows, maybe she will land a part now for her terrific performance seeing as she was unknown until now.

Peace.

YouTube divorce rant has experts talking - TODAY: People - MSNBC.com

A little cultural sharing: Passover

As a lay Roman Catholic, I can still recite parts of the mass from memory, I can tell you about the sacraments and I can explain why certain things are as they are. As the husband of a Jewish woman, I cannot tell you a whole lot because I am still a student of the religion (and I use religion loosely as it certainly is in essence much more an identity than a religion, but that is for another post). My first seder experience was in high school in a well-intended but very poorly executed experiment during religion class where real wine was served to a naughty bunch of teenagers. Oy! Suffice it to say that it was the first and the last time it was attempted, there was many a reprimand handed out, the cleanup was long and the teacher was devastated. Fast forward to my first seder with my in-laws and the atmosphere was much more serious in nature but only so much so as to recognize that it was an important time. My in-laws are not orthodox or conservative but more laid-back reform. They do not keep kosher or adhere strictly to a number of the rules that typically Jewish people identify themselves with. That said, as I intoned earlier, the "identity" of being Jewish is very strong in this family and I fully respect that.

During that first meal, which was my wife's immediate family plus one of our favourite cousin's (RC), I had my brother-in-law cracking jokes in my ear that no one else could hear except for me, RC, DW and the odd time, the older brother who is a bit more serious than the other two. My BIL would say after a passage that described how God did something for the people, "Because we are the chosen people and just better than everyone else" and other silly things. It wasn't done in a malicious or self-righteous way but rather in a self-mocking playful way that had me, him and our cousin snickering so much we were often reprimanded by my other BIL, my MIL and my wife. All in all, like many a celebration in any other religion, Passover brings friends and family together again during the year to share in each other's lives. There can never be enough of those times.

Peace.

Passover 101: What you need to know - TODAY: Food & Wine - MSNBC.com

It has peanut butter as an ingredient. What more needs to be said?

If you like wine, then this is for you.

I've used boxed wines going back many years. The first one I bought was a white wine in a 4 litre bag in a box. The convenience of being able to have some wine without the pressure of having to finish of the bottle so as to not waste it was a huge benefit. Just open the fridge, press open the spigot and enjoy. Anyone that tells you that boxed or tetra-packed wine does not taste good has never actually bought it. If you are still skeptical, go and get the smallest size, a 250ml (otherwise known to some of my friends as a glass warmer), and try it for yourself. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Some decent information, though very high level, on buying a digital TV.

I certainly don't see what the debate is about.

any regular reader of this blog knows my stance on the death penalty, but let me say it again: I am for it when there is zero doubt about the guilt of the person involved and the seriousness of the crime. For this article specifically, it really is a no-brainer. By the very parameters, a child CANNOT give consent to have sex with an adult. Sure there is that gray area where older children are "convinced" that they know what they are doing and may agree to the act (especially with someone of the same age range). However, when a man or woman who is an adult preys upon someone who has yet to even formulate what the concept of sexual intercourse is, then it is a black and white case to me. That "person" needs to die and have that defective gene pool prevented from replicating. And generally, with DNA testing, the evidence will speak for itself. No plea bargains. No mercy rulings. Simple, quick, absolute. If there is any leeway, any way for the sick pervert to weasel out of the sentence, then there is no true deterrent to the crime. If, however, the sick pervert knows for a fact that when caught he or she will be put to death in short order, AND they see this sentence being carried out without prejudice and routinely, then it will actually make a few of them think it may not be such a good idea to risk my life to satisfy an urge. For the rest of them that cannot resist, they will get what is coming to them.

Another helpful article to help choose the right power supply.

Add a component and not sure your system can handle it?

I found this calculator online and it will give you a rough estimate on whether or not that old standard in your PC case is up to snuff. One word of advice is to bypass the bargain bin units (i.e. 500 watts for $25) unless you are giving away the system or using it for testing duties. If you want a rock solid, reliable and stable system, then fork out the extra cash for a brand name, tested and proven unit from folks like OCZ, Antec, PC Power and Cooling and Thermaltake.

Three women: one engaged, one married, and one a mistress, are chatting about their relationships and decide to amaze their men....that night all three will wear a sexy leather bodice, stilettos and mask over their eyes...

After a few days they meet again........

The engaged girlfriend said: 'the other night, when my boyfriend came back home, he found me in the leather bodice, 4" stilettos and mask. He said, you are the woman of my life, I love you...then we made love all night long.

The mistress stated: 'Oh Yes! The other night we met in the office. I was wearing the leather bodice, mega stilettos, mask over my eyes and a raincoat. When I opened the raincoat, he didn't say a word. We just had wild sex all night.'

The married one then said: 'The other night I sent the kids to stay at my mothers for the night; I got myself ready, leather bodice, and super stilettos and mask over my eyes. My husband came in from work, grabbed the TV controller and a beer, and said, 'Hey Batman, what's for dinner?'

I am sure that every area has a particular group (ethnic, religious, economically common, etc.) that is predominant as similarities attract. So, I am sure this post will be understood for its intent and the point it is trying to make.

I have lived on and off in the Scarborough area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada for over 27 years. I look at places around town now and don't recognize them because when I went by as a youth, they were still working farm lands. Scarborough is the largest multicultural section of Toronto as a whole. You will not find a larger hodge podge of countries, religions and races living together anywhere else in the world.

Yet, with all of that, we STILL experience the great flaw of such a mixture: F**KING BAD DRIVERS!!!

I work in Markham and travel through there and Scarborough on my way home to Ajax. The predominant mixture in my daily travel consists of Asian; east and south. Yesterday evening, I could have killed one of each equally. It is supposedly different now but at one time, when i got my license back in the 80's, it was widely known that perfectly English speaking people would suddenly go language dumb when they went in to get tested because they then would get a tester of their own language. This tester more times than not allowed the testes (Yes, I said it!) to buy their license. Anyone who has driven with me and marveled at my parking or passing skill would hear me utter, "I didn't buy my license" and this would be where it comes from.

So, why, WHY???, in 2008 am I still facing people who obviously bought their license because their is no f**king way they earned it?? Road kill target number one is an Oriental man (YES, I said it!) who insists on doing 40km/h in a 60 zone going south on Brimley Road from Steeles. He is holding up the entire lane behind him as everyone jockeys to get into the left lane to go around his stupid ass. Is he eating? No. Talking on the phone? No. How about reading something, like a map? Nope. This asshole is checking out his SJ MF hair in the rear view mirror AFTER having taken off his jacket or sweater while rolling down the road. I've changed clothes (I used to do courier work) but I had the sense to keep up with traffic. So, we all end up going around him over the next kilometre as my boy is chillaxin' sideways in the driver's seat. F**K ME.

So, we leave his ass there, hit Fahmee's for some coco bread and a jerk pork in a coco bread. Note: if you have to ask, go find yourself some Jamaican or Trini friends for gawd's sake!! I come out from that area and continue heading south on Brimley, safe in the knowledge that buddy has probably passed by this time. I proceed through the intersection at Finch, keeping an eye on what I think is a large Bucik sedan as I see the person (obviously too short to drive this behemoth since you can barely see his/her head above the seat) riding the line. Wouldn't you know it that as we cross Finch, this Brampton Beeyotch (YES, I said it!) starts to cross over into my lane towards the ROO?? I lay on the horn and she pulls the vehicle back. As I pass to give her the evil eyes, I spy that she has a baby seat in the back, two hands on the wheel and the stupidest look on her face. F**K ME!! Look, buy whatever the frickin' vehicle you want; it is your money. However, don't blame the car, the traffic or anything else when you cannot control the vehicle because you either are not properly equipped to handle it or you shouldn't be on the gawddamn road in the first place!!!

Stop buying SJ licenses for these SJ people!!! (Ask my LB what SJ stands for)

I don't want to do it but one of these days, these asshole people are going to do the stupid stuff in front of me when I simply cannot stop safely. If I am in the Roo, there will be much damage and not to me as I will hit the accelerator, NOT the brakes. Sonofabitch!! Simple rules of the road people, stay with traffic speed, stay in your lane, stay awake and stay out of my SJ MF way.

And before you start bitching about my singling out a particular group, understand why I prefaced this tale with the layout of where I am driving. I am sure I can do a blurb about the Gino boys in little Italy (as they cannot f**king drive either) or the old ass, barely seeing folks in the affluent neighbourhoods of Rosedale or Forest Hill. My point is that the race, creed, religion, etc. of a person does not and should not matter. Every culture in the world have people that can drive and people that cannot. Over there, those who cannot drive tend to die in car accidents. Over here, those same people tend to kill those of us who can drive. I simply want more of the cannots to learn to be cans. :)

Peace.

A Jewish grandmother and her grandson are at the beach.

He's playing in the water, she is standing on the shore not wanting to get her feet wet when all of a sudden, a huge wave appears from nowhere and crashes directly onto the spot where the boy is wading.

The water recedes and the boy is no longer there, he was swept away.

The grandma holds her hands to the sky, screams and cries:

"Lord, my GOD, how could you?

Haven't I been a wonderful grandmother?

Haven't I been a wonderful mother?

Haven't I kept a kosher home?

Haven't I given to charity?

Haven't I lit candles every Friday night?

Haven't I tried my very best to live a life that you would be proud of?"

A voice booms from the sky, "All right already!"

A moment later another huge wave appears out of no where and crashes on the beach. As the water recedes, the boy is standing there. He is smiling and splashing around as if nothing had ever happened.

The voice booms again. "I have returned your grandson. Are you satisfied?"

She responds, "He had a hat."

Intolerance ends in death.

You don't have to agree with the sexual orientation of others, but it does not give you the right to treat those people in a way that violates their rights or threatens their life. Too many times the various hock types will feed their own ego by feeding on the fear of others and then lash out when that ego and manliness is threatened. The weakness of a few is costing the lives of others and it needs to stop. By all means, give your kids, your friends, your colleagues your opinions on sexual orientation. However, also give those people the right idea that while you may not agree, you defend their right to make that choice or to be that way (not going to debate the issue of born or bred here). No one has the right to take the life of another because of differences or a clash of beliefs. This is a sad statement on our so-called civilized society.

Uhm, you want to send a Terminator up my ass?

OK, I have a few issues with this one. I will have to suck it up and get this done as colon cancer is a concern in my family tree. However, the whole idea of a robot going up my butt and poking around does not give me the warm and fuzzies. I have watched too many movies where robots choose the most inopportune time to gain self-awareness and then turn around and try to rip their human oppressors a new one.

The other issue, as mentioned in this article, is that anything up my butt is going to be used with the term "adhesives" in its name. Uhm, as much as DW wishes she could permanently plug up the gas-producing orifice that is my rectal aperature, we are not yet ready to take the chance of that actually happening. I thought it was Hillary running?

So why, in the last paragraph, is the Clinton spokesman saying that "Fe have done more to build the Democratic Party than BILL and Hillary Clinton"? I know you are saying so what, but let's examine this. People are voicing their fear than Bill Clinton cannot and will not act in the typical first spouse role. That is, they fear he will have too much influence in the White House and while they want Hillary in, they don't want a repeat four years of Bill. Further, he has been at the very least a big distraction on this campaign from Hillary's message. Hell, if you look at the buttons they were handing out, his head is bigger on the button than hers. So, even subtley, why would you not ensure that everything mentioned with the two of them has the bigger focus on Hillary and treat Bill as an afterthought? This can only bode well for the Obama camp and it is another glaring reason that Barack wants nothing to do with the idea of Hillary running as his Vice-president. The price of that arrangement is to also invite Bill back into the White House with you and that may be too high a price to pay.

BTW, I love Bill Clinton for many different reasons and I think he was a much better president that GWB, but this is now not then and times are different. He should have stayed in the shadows more to allow his wife to shine and show HER strengths as her own woman, who just happens to be married to a former president. It is my opinion that he did not do her campaign any favours. I do like Hillary as well, but I think it is truly a time for change in our cousins to the south's politics. There are very good reasons that the world dislikes Americans and there are some very stupid reasons for it. The former can be helped by a changing of the guard. The latter, well, you just cannot fight stupid easily; the last eight years should have shown everyone that.

Peace.

Do the unions and other employees really think they are not already tracked?

If they believe they have been getting away with showing up late, not showing up at all, filing false time sheets/cards and generally "sticking it to the man", they are dumber than people thought they were. Everyday, there are cameras, card scanners, computer logins and other items that can be used to track where you have been and what you have been doing for the day. Doubt me? Ok, let's take my typical day.

I get up in the morning and I turn on the TV to watch Breakfast Television on CityTV (local Toronto morning show). The cable company's digital box sends a signal to Rogers Cable and let's them know that the box is on and what channel I am currently viewing. If I am on-call, I may log into my work's VPN to check mail and the ticket queue to ensure nothing was missed overnight. My work server and firewalls log that the authentication attempt and response, how long I was in the system and what applications I accessed. I leave the house and head into work. Enroute I will be picked up by the Highway 401 traffic cameras, and any security cameras owned by the police in certain areas, by any redlight cameras, and by any security cameras owned by malls and shops that capture any part of the road. If I use a drive-thru, like at Tim Horton's or McDonald's, the cameras there will see me come through and the bank will record where I was and how much I spent there if I decide to use debit. When I finally arrive at work, there are security cameras everywhere from the parking lot to just near my desk so my entire path from car to chair is recorded. I also have to scan in my security pass two or four times, path dependent, in order to get into my office area; one includes a biometric fingerprint reader. When I am at work, my login to my laptop, and access to all the applications I use, plus the Internet usage, is all logged and tracked in our firewalls and servers. All movement in and around the office is recorded by at least six security cameras. Yes, even when I go to the bathroom, since it is outside our office area, I will scan to get in and out of the doors, and will be seen on at least three cameras before a single drop hits the urinal. When I shutdown my laptop to head home, a new wave of recording begins.

So, exactly how more intrusive is a palm scanner going to be in a typical person's life? Negligible. I understand the whole "Big Brother" aspect of it all but if you intend to live in a modern city and use modern tools then you will need to learn how to cope with it all in a modern manner. And, for the record, whining like a little pissant about your privacy and rights is NOT a modern manner. The quote in the article is indeed about this being about control. Just when have you know a union to ever want to give any of it up once they have it? If all the union workers arrive on time, do their damn jobs, and leave when they are supposed to (with exceptions being logged by their superiors for HR to adjust timesheets accordingly) then this really is moot and nothing will change. That said, having worked with and in the government environment for some time, we all know why there this so much bitching about this. Well, suck it up buttercups!! Do your job, come and go when you are supposed to and none of this will change your life as you know.

Heh, sorry, I guess doing the right thing is a change.

Ciao.

More Vista Woes

I just watched an online presentation recently held by a rep from Dell and Microsoft touting why it would be in a business' best interests to move to Vista now rather than later. This article and my continuing painful experience on trying to rebuild my family's PVR is in stark contrast to the fluffy bullshit that they were tossing at us in that presentation. The reality is that as much as Windows is a decent OS, it only becomes a great one after two or three service packs. And this only after millions of people have paid good money, time and sweat to identify the issues to Microsoft. We are either the greatest bunch of underpaid software testers in the world or the greatest bunch of lemmings. Go to a mirror now and check how much brown fur you've got on you!

Why I hate Sony and super hate that they won the HD war.

First they had the audacity to ask for money to remove crap from their systems that you did not ask for.

PC World - Business Center: Sony Removes Bloatware--for a Fee

Then they got a clue that maybe this was a bad PR move. Uhm, like putting a rootkit in the software DRM of your CDs. Or, like not licensing MD or Betamax technology to 3rd party people. Or uhm, how about the time they created their own memory called a Magicstick and no one else used it? Oh yeah, how about the time they rendered all early adopters' Blu-ray players incapable of playing the newer profile movies? Hasn't happened yet? You are right but it is on the way once the new profile is released. Only the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) has the ability to upgrade its profile. Still want a Sony product? Why don't you just hand me the money and bend over instead? I'll be more gentle than they will be.

Ciao.

PC World - Business Center: Sony Retracts Bloatware Fee

But will it make XP any better than it already is?

A little Apple is good for everyone. The doctor was right. :)

I'd have to say both.

Our Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition PVR (say that five times fast) is currently sitting off beside me. This is because it was having some slight issues that I thought I would try Service Pack 1 on to see if it would fix them. Oh, it fixed them all right. Permanently. Now, it will boot to the login screen but upon loading everything up, it would either blue screen or freeze up or just die. Ok, I was prepped for this so I installed it from scratch with a disc with SP1 integrated (don't ask how I obtained this, I know people). That sort of fixed things but it is still out of whack, doesn't see all four tuners all the time and crashes frequently. I have to rebuild it from scratch again but this time I won't do any updates until I have all the hardware drivers and such updated. Only then will I look to update the OS and only after I take a clean image so I do not have to do this from scratch again. It all takes so much time and energy, both of which I am sorely lacking these days.

Peace.

Another step to future Linux adoption in business environements.

You cannot change the world in a day but you can adjust it a little bit at a time. Being able to authenticate to an Active Directory server means that security is not compromised in your workplace and the worker can still get to the resources that he/she needs to do his/her job. The fact that the basic functionality is being offered free is also a good thing because testing things out should never cost anyone (no matter the platform). Those that want and need the extra functionality of the Enterprise version will rightly pay for those privileges. It is a win-win situation all around. That is, provided that Redmond doesn't go and deliberately muck things up with an "update".

PC World - Business Center: Likewise Opens Windows Networks to Linux, Macs

I love Apple, but here is a worthy contender to the MacBook Air.

Steve, I know you love simple concepts (look at the iPod, and iLife and Mac OS X for starters) so what on earth possessed you to leave off the killer items needed to ensure that the MacBook Air ruled them all? One USB port in an unusable place and form? Silly. No industry standard VGA or DVI out to allow connection to an external monitor (increasing the built-in's 13.3" real estate and paltry 1280x800 resolution)? Stupid. A flip down PITA of a hidden connector panel? Shortsighted. No wired Ethernet connection? Dubious. NO OPTICAL DRIVE?? That's just plain nutty, my friend.

OK, you laid the gauntlet down but now someone has answered and they have done so with a very convincing package. If I had to choose between looking good and being fully functional, looks will lose every single time. I hope by Christmas you do your thing and release the MacBook Air that you should have released in the first place. Use this Lenovo product as your target and blow it away. We know you can do it, so just get it done.

Ted? Byte me!!!

So, we get a notice in the mail from Rogers. We get LOTS of crap in the mail from them so I was expecting them to either ask me to pay them money or tout some new feature or service I have no need for and will not be subscribing too. Boy, were we surprised when I looked at this latest piece of dead tree.

Rogers is in the process of throttling bandwidth, limiting downloads and basically big brothering the whole damn thing. Oh wait, they are already doing so! In the information they sent, they were kind enough to point out how much bandwidth we had used in the last couple of months (November was exceptionally heavy with 170+GB transferred) and how much MORE we would have to pay according to their new rates. By their accounting, we need to "upgrade" our service to the highest one and pay them $100 for the privilege of a 95GB bandwidth cap and a $25 penalty ($1.20 I think per extra GB up to a max of $25) after that.

Well, I was contemplating a little change up in the homestead's service providers. this has given that concept a swift kick into reality. Look, I am all for a service charging a reasonable amount for what they provide but they are seriously pissing me off by taking advantage of those who don't know any better. At the top end of their chart, the service will provide 18Mps download and 1Mbps upload speeds. This seems much better than the 7Mbps down and 512Kbps up that we currently "enjoy". However, if you can show me ONE site that will allow an 18Mbps download speed, thereby justifying this outlay, I would sign up in a heartbeat. The fact is that there are none because commercial sites pay for the bandwidth they use and the other users you connect to are limited by the same crappy upload speeds that you are so the point is moot.

Sure, the larger pipe will allow more bittorrent streams BUT then we run into the hard cap limit. Do you really want someone telling you how much you can download? If they had said $100, no cap, and 2 or 3Mbps upload AND allow servers, then I would easily fork over the coin. But no, they would rather piss off a long time client and force me to look elsewhere. No, not to Bell Sympatico (unless an amazing sale comes up) as they were the first to perform this limited bandwidth stunt. There are smaller, reliable ISPs that allow servers, have decent pipe, and don't cap the bandwidth. I had started many times to look into alternatives but I am determined to tell the Rogers person that calls in exactly why I dropped their Internet bullshit service.

Oh yeah, as for email, I have a domain now so I am going to start using it to redirect our personal mail. We still use Gmail extensively for just about anything else anyhow. Sorry Ted, find someone else to finance that baseball team of yours. We are outta here.

Another piece of my childhood fades away.

Everyone has certain things in their childhood which have left an indelible mark on their lives. Things that are bad and traumatic that haunt us and things that helped mold us, strengthen us and/or brought us great joy. I have many experiences on both sides of the coin which I will delve into another day. One thing I will share now, and obviously ties into the link below, is a memory from my childhood that was bright.

I do not remember if I was bought the book by a family member (highly unlikely) or if I got it through that now defunct but really missed Scholastic reading program. In any case, I had a book called Rendezvous with Rama. It was one of the first grown up science fiction books I ever read and was one of many that I enjoyed from the great writer Arthur C. Clarke. Like his peer Isaac Asimov, Mr. Clarke wove great tales about the mysteries of the universe and how mankind fit in it.

If you like reading (I really miss it), like science fiction, and haven't read it yet, try starting with Rama. I think you will enjoy this great work from a now lost great master of the craft. RIP.

Science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke dies at 90

The reason why men are imperfect beings?

Women.

A long time ago, I gave my brother the best piece of advice I could give as a fellow married guy: Make her choose! Whether it be the movies, when to eat, what to buy, or the outfit she should wear. Make her choose. Why is this important? Let me illustrate.

I have had enough experience with women in my life; not all of it good but better than most. The one most singularly frustrating common element in every encounter is the annoyingly inability of the female species to make a simple choice. Oh, it is very easy for them to make choices when it comes to the male, with an overwhelmingly majority of those being negative. NO, you cannot buy that TV. NO, you cannot have that sports car. NO, she and her friend cannot join us. NO, you cannot have a third piece of pie. NO, I will NOT do that. NO, you will not be getting a Cray supercomputer for Christmas. You get the idea.

However, when it comes to other things, things that usually involve them or are for them, there is always a see-saw, a fence-sitting, a wishy-washy ambiguity to life. Do I look fat in this? Do I look good in this? Do you like my hair? What do you feel like for dinner? What movie should we see? And on and on. Now, I know you are thinking that those questions seem simple enough but you are only lying to yourself and her. She does not want an answer from you on any of those. She simply wants to frustrate your life in asking the unanswerable. She already has the answers in her head but she wants you to play "blind concentration" to try and match your card to hers. Let me illustrate.

Do I look fat in this? Unanswerable because yes means you think she is fat and no means you are willing to lie to her and cannot be trusted. Do I look good in this? She has already decided that she does not and will either buy the other one she picked out or, in the case of her closet, put on the first outfit she chose. Either way, you are wrong and since she thought she did not look good, you are lying and therefore cannot be trusted. Do you like my hair? If she had it done recently and hated it, you are lying. If she wants it done, then you are either lying, are not paying close attention to her or you don't care how she looks. What do you feel like for dinner? She already nixed 90% of what you might wish to eat so you are an unhealthy boar and don't care what you try to push into her body. What movie shoudl we see? DANGER. If she was in a good mood, then evil and death filled movies will bring her down. If she was in a bad mood, then evil and death filled movies means you don't want to try and cheer her up. Just pick the chick flick and learn to sleep silently with popcorn in your cheeks.

We may be complicated at time but when it comes to questions, almost any man will tell you it is a black and white world to them: Yes or No. Left or Right. A or B. Introduce all the fluffy minutae, complicate things unnecessarily, don't answer the bloody question we asked in the first place and you risk the question not being asked again. So ladies, no matter how miffed I just made you, take my advice when a question of choice formulates in your brain: Just Choose. We'll both be much happier for it.

BTW, my brother was shocked to see it in action and implemented the methodology to great effect and personal stress reducing satisfaction. You can do it too.

Ciao.

NOTE: I had written this a couple of days ago but it ended up in draft for some reason.

Good versus Evil

The long awaited first service pack for Vista has been finally released. Our PVR here at home is running Ultimate and is a bit buggered (long story short, I tried to get TVersity running and pooched some connectivity) and will no longer register on the Xbox360. As such, I have to rebuild it anyhow so why not pooch it now completely and get it over with? I have had great success with MS SPs before and I have had major horrow stories where a recover of my files were necessary after I bought a new drive and built a clean system. I know, I know. You should be rebuilding a clean system every year when using Windows anyhow. Famine will have a field day with this I am sure. Bring on the open-source POV my friend!

Anyhow, as this article states, this service pack is already known to break currently working commercial software. If this were Apple or UNIX or Linux, there would be an uproar and people pointing and laughing at the non-windows users and all the usual rhetoric. However, because it is the monopolistic group, there will be no more of a shrug as people wait yet again for the commerical folks to come up with patches to fix what MS broke. Imagine that. GM makes a car that no longer works with the gasoline you always bought for it and they want the gasoline companies to fix it. how likely do you think that would be? Exactly, so yet again, WHY do we all continue to put up with this?

One simple answer is that, for some of us, we simply have no other choice. I cannot install Ubuntu on my work laptop and say I am not using Windows any longer. Besides the support issue, there are the licensing issues and liability and security. All of which our internal support people will balk at. So, I am stuck. At home, I am simply lazy to be dead honest. Sure, I can get my four tuners in my PVR machine working under Sage or MythTV but they are a pain in the ass to configure and get everything working correctly. Vista Ultimate simply works for the function I need it to perform. Snapstream's BeyondTV simply works on any windows to perform as we need it to. Simplicity does have its price but it is sometimes less than the alternative.

I long for the day when whole departments in Canada will say enough and start the exodus to open source the way European communities have done (i.e. an entire city in several countries have banished anything but open source from ALL levels of government). Alas, there are too many golf games, hockey games, basketball games, football games and hockey games where deals are done to allow this to happen. One day the king will be dethroned but today is not yet that day.

Ciao.

Weather gets better, people get stupider

Or maybe I am just noticing them a little more. Take for example the idiot East Indian girl this morning. She damn well knew that she was getting on the highway which is the ramp on the right. She just MUST get on first so goes into the left lane as she figures her little silver wannabe sports coupe would easily outrun TR when the light goes green. First, she knows nothing about automobiles and trucks. Two, she knows not my level of ignorance. Light turns green, we pull off, I enter ramp, she follows. Twit.

It's the same story day in and day out, year after year but it does not fail to ignite my passion when they cut me or others off and nearly cause unnecessary accidents because their time is obviously so much more valuable than everyone else's. I just want to walk up to them and smack them in the head to wake them up.

That or get a much bigger truck to hurt them with should they do stupid things around me. :)

Peace.

Stop selling licenses!

Sonofabitch!! I work with people who cannot park a car straight to save their lives. Snow on the ground simply makes the situation worse as that writes them a free pass to park like utter idiots. Seriously, if you cannot tell that the marker stuck in the ground is where the side of your car SHOULD line up, then you simply should not be on the road. And you all damn well know that you are taking up two f**king parking space when you can open your door all the way and not even come close to hitting the next car over. Get back in your car and park the f**king thing properly so someone else, like myself, does not have to park in God's back behind the building and walk through the cold to the front door.

Bastards.

Playoff Dilemna

What to do, what to do. As a sports purist, the simple thought concerning the Toronto Maple Leafs is that they must play hard to the end of the season and try their best to get into the second season. The business person says that the team needs to play rookies and bench riders, effectively tanking the rest of the season in order to try to secure the most possible chances in the lottery to get the treasured number one pick in the next draft.

Sorry, for me it is very simple. You get paid to play. If you don't play to win each and every game, get the f**k off the ice!!

Nuff said.

Gotta love penis mail!

Like everyone else who uses public email, I get a LOT of SPAM in my inbox. Thankfully the filters remove almost all of it immediately from view so it is not really a nuisance anymore except to dump out the folder once in a while. Every so often, though, you run across some mail that makes you laugh. This is what I saw today and I will post the better ones when I run across them.

Enjoy. Thanks to Redsometimes for the term "penis mail".

Take her hard tonight
When her panties come down, you better make sure you have an impressive size weapon in your pants.

Today's Funny

------------------------

Two little boys, ages 8 and 10, are excessively mischievous. They are always getting into trouble and their parents know all about it. If any mischief occurs in their town, the two boys are probably involved.

The boys' mother heard that a preacher in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The preacher agreed, but he asked to see them individually. So the mother sent the 8 year old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see the preacher in the afternoon.

The preacher, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, "Do you know where God is, son?"

The boy's mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there wide-eyed with his mouth hanging open.

So the preacher repeated the question in an even sterner tone, "Where is God?!"

Again, the boy made no attempt to answer. The preacher raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face and bellowed, "Where is God?!"

The boy screamed & bolted from the room, ran directly home & dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him.

When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, "What happened?" The younger brother, gasping for breath, replied, "We are in BIG trouble this time.

"GOD is missing, and they think we did it!"

Free speech at its most clear

How does one know if the caller was really relaying her daughter's words? How do we know that the caller did not innocently forget that comparing a black man to a monkey night not be received particularly well? How do we know that this whole thing was not a big setup to once again remind America that a black man was running for president?

I can tell you what we do know. Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat liar!!! He did not know who Curious George is? Come on now. I bet he knows the names of every intern in the White House for the last fifty years. An icon of children's literature that spans the globe he was unaware of? You would have been better to apologize for laughing and moved on Rush. Now, you just proved to America that you cannot be trusted.

A follow-up porn post

I found this in the comments section of the ABCnews.com site. Very interesting, funny and telling.

Did you woman ever think that maybe your husbands get sucked in and addicted to porn because YOU are boring in bed. Maybe if you watched with him and played out some of his fanasies for him he would be watching you and not porn. Maybe if you were actuially satifying your husband this would not be a problem. And in all truth...the problem is yours.. not his...so he loves porn...give the guy a break..he's obviously "wacking it" because he's not getting it from the woman at home. All you woman get mad because your men watch porn and lust over beautiful sexy woman...So what. You people are nothing but jealous..."why doesn't he look at me that way???" cause your not hot!!! you are a wife..probably middle aged and over weight...not nearly as sexy as a 25 year old...let the man have a fantasy!! You want him to ease up on the porn...go get yourself some vibrators... and play with yourself in front of him...trust me that tv will go off real quick! get on top of him...stop with the missionary position..let him live out a fantasy in you..on you...around you...however he wants. go get some vinal outfits...stop trying to make it romantic and start making it sexy!! He's a man.. he lusts... he desires..he DOES NOT WANT TO MAKE LOVE TO YOU ALL THE TIME!!! HE WANT TO F*CK YOUR BRAINS OUT!! let him be a man. let the sex be great for him and then the sex will be really good for you. My husband has a bad day at work...we pop in a porn and take our anger out on eachother in a very rough sexual way. Stop being a boring house wife, stop the whole oh woe os me my husband watches porn...and get your kink on..get your husband back. You woman are just jealous that your husband would rather F*uck a hot 20 something then you.

The great porn debate

It is interesting when opposing sides of the debate come together and present their arguments. One thing I find interesting is that when a former porn person (in front of or behind the camera) goes mainstream or stops in porn there are two distinct reactions to the person. There is more acceptance for the former porn person that now denounces their former life as evil and wrong than there is for those who simply decided it was time to leave that life behind and do something else. Somehow, saying "nay" to one's former life cleanses you better than those who say nothing or still supports porn. Uhm, hmmmm. If I recall, all former porn people's "art" is still out there for anyone to see. SO, you run a church now and you try to get people to shed their ways but we can still rent your movie where you are giving or getting in various positions, with various devices in different orifices?

I definitely support the cleaning up of the industry in terms of making sure nobody underage is exploited and that the entire business runs as a business should, but in thinking of it as a business, like construction for example, one expects there are those who do not play by the rules, those who try to screw others to get ahead (pun intended) and those who will do whatever they need to to get to the top. To somehow hold the practices of this industry in disdain simply because the participants take their clothes off during their business transactions is hypocritical and naive. Simply put, if I am in business and I am going to get screwed over, I would rather it be by Jenna Jameson or Asia Carrera and not Donald Trump or George Bush.

As for the issue surrounding people's addictions and the access to porn by children, I must roll my eyes slowly. Look, people are addicted to alcohol all over the world. Has booze been banished from being made? No. People are addicted to prescription drugs. Have those drugs been pulled off the shelf and no longer are prescribed? No. People are re-mortgaging their homes and losing their families as they gamble their lives away. Has Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Casino Rama or Fallsview been closed down? No. So, all these vices, all these things that have proven harmful to a small section of society, still exist because we understand that the individual is ultimately responsible for making the right decision. Why should the pornography industry be treated any differently?

And don't get me started about the kids seeing this stuff. I will admit to finding a dirty magazine and VHS tape in the house and going through them. I had to work at finding them though because I knew they were there. Nowadays, parents have way more tools to ensure that, at least in their house, it is impossible for little Johnny or Janey to get access to any of that stuff. We cannot protect them 24/7/365 from it because other people are not as caring about that exposure but as parents, we can do our level best. I hate the whole "our kids will suffer" bullshit argument that these people keep brining up. Police your own damn kids and leave the makers of Ass Masters #9 out of it. I don't think it is the job of ANY industry to do YOUR job for you. Their job is to make it visibly for adults only, to take steps to limit the possibility of underage people to participate or obtain the items, but in the end, it is your house so ensure you know what is going on in it.

So, in the end, your view is your own; that is the great thing about opinions. Just remember what they say about glass houses.

Ciao.

Did Ron Jeremy 'Slam-Dunk' Porn Pastors?

Maybe she really wanted to be a model?

For someone that apparently passed the bar, this woman proves the old addage "You can teach book sense, but you cannot teach common sense". Forget the current technology of email and how fast and simple it is to forward on things to other people. Simply, would you say this to a potential employers face, even if you were not going to take the job, knowing that this person with an already established reputation was going to tell all his buddies, and tell those people to tell all their friends, to not touch your career with a ten foot pole? Not a chance. Email, however, makes the stupid brave; makes the meek grow huge stones that they simply cannot carry. Now, she not only will be shunned by almost every law firm in Boston, but she now has the notoriety as the flippant young comer and there are not a lot of people that will be willing to hire her stupid ass for both fear of the spotlight doing so will bring now and the possible stupid things she will do to the firm in the future. Welcome to Lewinsky land Dianna Abdala. You better be a damn good lawyer because you will have to open your own business now.

Or change careers.

Idiot.

Peace.

ABC News: The 'Bla Bla Bla' Heard 'Round the World

Monday, March 03, 2008

Uhm, I would make a French joke, but...

Look. I have family in New York. I nearly lost that family when the planes hit the tower. I was a bawling mess for over 12hrs as the world that I knew and felt save in suddenly and forever ceased to exist. i know there is a lot of evil out there and a lot of stupid evil and greedy evil and ignorant evil and evil evil. But, if at any time, there was ever a shred of evidence that could prove that they brought the towers down, killing thousands and literally changing the landscape of a nation simply to save money, I'd be the first in line with the gun and the bullet.

Every day we see reports of the evil that people do when they blow themselves up to kill innocent people at a peace meeting. Or they kill others on the other side of a bridge because of their genetics. Or they wipe out a village because it is a different tribe. Or kidnap people, tourists daily to extract funds to fuel their drug wars. We see all of this and we know that evil exists.

I won't use the C-word but if I did, this rocket science of a dumbass SJ broad would definitely fit the label. It is a disgrace that she can use her new found international fame to desecrate the graves of those innocent people who died in those attacks and the consequent fallout all over the world. How dare she make such callous, unfounded, unproven statements. I don't much agree with a lot of what my American cousins do and stand for but I can tell you that I stand by them on this one. Ban the bitch from ever setting foot on North American soil again. Let her eat cake and star in bullshit art house films for she is persona non grata in Hollywood. Good job you dippy twit!!

Salut!!!

CANOE -- JAM! - Oscar winner: U.S. faked 9/11

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Last week we heard the reports about the students in South Africa fooling the poor black staff into performing stupid games and tasks and making them eat and drink items that were urinated and defecated upon. All this done without the staff realizing what was being done to them and the fact that the film would end up on Internet sites around the world to showcase their humiliation. Apartheid may have been disbanded but racism is alive and well.

The link below continues the saga of a black woman that was victimized by six white people (and I use that term VERY loosely) who sexually assaulted her, men and women, beat her and kept her captive. Even if any of those involved were privy only to what was happening and did not actually perform any of the acts, they should be held in the same way was if they were her tormentors themselves. I cannot remember the term but if you go and watch The Accused with Jodi Foster and Kelly McGillis, you will see that they did not have the evidence to convict the actual rapists BUT they were able to prosecute and convict those guilty of complacency to the crime and egging on the rapists during the act. The exact same thing should happen in this case. By not calling the authourities and allowing the abuse to continue, those involved are as much to blame as those who actually committed the rape and stabbing of this young woman.

Those involved are trying to drive home this point in peaceful demonstrations. Should this farce of a trial continue as it is, just how long do you think it will remain peaceful? Further to that, just how do you expect the community to heal from this when a section of that community will feel as if they are back in the 1800s and concerned for their safety when no one else in power is? These are very sad times indeed and the fallout may be as bad for everyone else as this experience was for this poor innocent lady.

May cooler and smarter heads prevail.

Peace.

What to make of this?

We know very well that the overwhelmingly majority of service women and men overseas for any country are good people trying to do their best for the country they believe in. We also know that a few bad apples make the rest look VERY bad and brings in to question many policies and many conflicts.

I read a few articles surrounding this story and because of the cultural stigma associated with rape, especially in these Asian cultures, you have to wonder whether the girl's family forced her to drop this to "save face" in the community or if the Armed Forces "helped" the family move in another direction.

In does not look very good and as many cases of false rape being cried, there are a multitude more of real rape cases going prosecuted. If the marine is guilty, chop them off!! If he is innocent though, his life will be forever tainted by the accusation and everyone's inability to prove it one way or another.

I'm not a big fan of Kobe Bryant's (even though I am a fan of his skills). That said, the evidence seems to show he simply f**ked up by f**king someone other than his wife. I do not believe for an instant that he raped that girl. And for the record, neither do I believe the little innocent church girl that went to Tyson's room to "watch TV" in the middle of the night. The problem is the burden of proof. And sometimes, it is better to let people think the worst than it is for them to know the whole truth.

What a world we live in.

Peace.

McCain's citizenship called into question - Nightly News with Brian Williams- msnbc.com

HRC cannot realy be THAT stupid, can she?

Senator Clinton happens to be a woman. This fact should not, in a fair society, matter in terms of her presidential nomination bid. However, it damn well SHOULD matter when she is taking money from a company who has been accused of blatant and repeated sexual harassment of its female employees!! It does not matter if the company is innocent or not; that is for the court to decide. The fact of the matter is that the mere possibility that they can be found guilty should have her running in the other direction.

Now, before anyone tries to point it out, the Obama camp did indeed accept a much lower donation from an employee of this company and his wife. To their credit, they have returned the employee's money. To the head scratching disbelief of those watching though, they still kept the wife's two grand saying something about her not being part of the company. Uhm, splitting hairs Barack and you really don't want to start doing that until AFTER you have a seat in the White House.

So, what is the deal with Hilary and this money? Her husband goes on enough speaking engagements to make up that difference with ease. Why keep the money? This could very well cost her the nomination in the end because a lot of women feel as if she is victimizing them all over again. I feel that as a guy, so why can she not feel that as a woman?

Ciao.

Sen. Clinton accepts donations from troubled firm - Deep Background - msnbc.com

There is obviously more to this story to come out.

In the end, it is always the kids that suffer.

There is always someone covering their ass after they f**k up royally. the supervisor on this case should be fired at the very least. This was gross negligence that ended with someone dying. If that was construction, fired. In the oil fields, fired. On the fire department, fired. This should be no different. An idiot decision led to people dying. Fire his ass. And lock her ass up!!
