Love or hate the ultimate decision, your opinion in the matter does not count. My opinion in this matter does not count. Only the opinions of twelve unfortunate souls in California chosen as jurors in this issue matter. And if you read and/or listen to what they have to say, you will see that they agree with what I have said from the beginning.
Freak? Definitely, just look at the man now. Pity him his expensive but super screwed up lifestyle. Weird and creepy? Do you know anyone else with a best friend called Bubbles? Hugh Hefner has as many animals at his place but he shags plastic-enhanced beauties with the best of them. Also Hef has no kids in his bed unless his latest blonde "girlfriend" gets knocked up by a Viagra-induced grotto session.
The bottom line is that the system actually worked in this regard. The premise is that one is innocent until proven guilty. Even without MJ's testimony, the jury of eight women and four men did not believe the evidence proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was guilty on any of the TEN counts against him; not a single one.
Most scathing is their comments about the accused's mother and her actions in court. From insulting the jurors (and pissing them off in the process) to winking at the Hispanic man in the hopes of possibly garnering favour(?!?!). She did more good for the Defence and damage for the Prosecution than any of the evidence hoped to do. And speaking of the evidence, we have seen far less get innocent people convicted and far more damning set guilty people free. The evidence was really weak to begin with so, as MsMittens pointed out, it really came down to a he said/he said case of events. Unfortunately, no one truly wins in that case.
For the teenaged accuser, anyone that knows his identity will now either say he got shafted or that he is a lying sack of crap like his mother (apple not falling far form the tree). For MJ, he either got off by the skin of his teeth or he was railroaded by hustlers who tried to get at his waning millions. Both of their reputations are now forever sullied. Right or wrong though, MJ's is salvageable as this is the normal fare for the rich and famous. He may never regain the super stardom he once had, but he can still work his magic and his supporters will be there (as they were in cult-like awe during the entire ordeal).
The young lad, innocent no more in one form or another, is not going to be so lucky. He has no similar foundation on which to draw from. He is a pariah to all the supporters of MJ, and he is questionable to anyone else. Worse yet for him is that his best bet is to remain anonymous because if it is ever revealed who he actually is, the persecution will be relentless. Just ask the accuser of Kobe Bryant.
So what next? Well, if people really care about MJ, and he really cares about remaining free, he will effect some immediate changes. Let's start simply with no more (^%(*&^) kids in his bed!!!!. I would treat children as pariahs now and NEVER be around them alone. Hire an independent observer from the government that shadows you all day long. Always have witnesses of any interaction you have with kids. Anything you do adult-like (i.e. tossing off to the various magazines while downing copious amounts of alcohol to dull the pain of BJs for MJ without pay as an impossibility) is up to you and can remain private.
Take to heart the name of your ranch Neverland, Michael. NEVER land in this position again by NEVER making it easy for people to put you there. Sorry dude but live out your freakish life in whatever fashion you want sans the kiddies. The next time you have anything remotely looking like a child in your bed, it had better be Fuk Yu and Fuk Mi, some hookers in Catholic school girl outfits or little people (otherwise known as midgets and dwarves).
OK, now that this madness has passed, how about we get the evidence right in the case of the man accused of participating in the murders that the movie "Mississippi Burning" is based on?
