If you have a Seagate drive, especially a new one, you NEED to read this page.

A number of drives have a confirmed and acknowledge bug in the firmware.  Seagate has issued a fix for it that can be found at the link below.  BEWARE:  The application of this fix will probably wipe the data on your drive so do not take any chances; perform a full backup of everything before you apply the fix.  Consider yourself properly warned.
