If the Tuskegee Airmen are the feelgood story for Alabama, then how ironic it is that one of the worst offences recorded against black males also occurred in the very same area. In summary, the Tuskegee Experiment basically allowed 399 black males to suffer after contracting syphilis by leaving them untreated so that they could be studied to see how far the disease would advance on its own and what would happen. It goes without saying, though I will do so, that these were poor and illiterate people that were preyed upon for this study.
Yes, I bring these items to light because of Obama. Hopefully, like the holocaust, Hiroshima, Rwanda and many other attrocities, we will never see them happen ever again. We can only make sure of that by never forgetting that they were possible in the first place.
