How many must die before someone figures out how to tell the good guys from the bad ones?

There is no possible way of preventing all friendly fire incidents.
It is a fact of life and death in military conflicts and will always be so.

The incredible thing is that there are not so many more of them. Overall considering the ordinance and weapons systems involved and the speed of things on the modern battle field it is remarkable there are not more dead and injured in each case.

My cousins fiance is over there now commanding a troop of armored cars. I have read a few of his e-mails. Remarkable stuff.

I understand that, but I am sure the facts and the truth is of little comfort to the dead guy's friends and families. I think if they really wanted to figure out a way to fix the problem, they can. Every issue is solvable by spending enough money to figure it out. That and a little luck. I just think it is worth the effort to try. That could be my older brother one day (he is Air Force reserves) and I would not be very understanding, I can tell you.
