BBC NEWS | Technology | Poisoned PowerPoint attacks users

August 8th. AUGUST 8TH??!?!?!!?

That is when Microsoft will release a patch to fix the hole that currently resides on your machine that could let a progam in (called a keylogger) that can capture and then transmit every keystroke you make on your computer's keyboard. Geez, M$, don't do us any huge favours.

Ciao.

You're surprised? Geez. They've been doing this for a while. It's called Patch Tuesday. Happens every month. Do you honestly think that those patches are just nice fixes? Most are fixes for found holes that aren't as publically aware but are known to a variety of exploiters.

MS still believes that exploits only come about AFTER the patch is release. This is why it's critical on a MS system to have, at minimum: up-to-date AV and Spyware detection, firewall, IDS and a smart person managing it.

As IF anything Microscrooge can do to surprise me anymore. I have so many programs running just to keep my OS running it is ridiculous. It takes half of breakfast for things to come up as this is checked and that is blocked and whatever is scanned. I just want the damn thing to work!!
