IT Tidbits

So, you want to know what the little rascals are up to on the Internet eh? Well, here is a simple solution for you. First, dump Microsoft. Yeah, I know but it really does suck for doing anything truly useful when you want to do it and not have to pay ridiculous amounts of money to get it accomplished. Next, run Ubuntu or Suse or Fedora or Mepis or any number of consumer-oriented desktop replacements out there (check http://www.linuxiso.org for more). Next, make sure that the latest necessary apps are installed for their surfing pleasure. This may or may not include Openoffice, some type of media player, Firefox 2.0 or Opera 9.0. Next, LOCK IT DOWN. Take away all permissions except the ability to run the program and to save and modify their own files. That'll insure the little bastards don't f**k up the installation again. Finally, go to the link below and run this to lock down and lock out what they actually have access to on the Net.

Sure, you can buy various programs out there that does this on Windows, but don't you want to have some fun and learning and a sense of accomplishment in wrecking the little whippersnappers' fun? I know you do. Enjoy.
