13-year-old boy arrested for a series of taxi cab robberies, 51 Division

On Wednesday, August 3, 2005, a 13-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly committing a series of robberies involving taxi cab drivers in the Regent Park area.

It is alleged that:

- between Tuesday, July 26, 2005 and Tuesday, August 2, 2005, a number of cab drivers were physically assaulted and robbed by the 13-year-old youth,

- at least two other accomplices were involved after reaching a requested destination in the Regent Park area,

- during three of the robberies the drivers were threatened with a firearm.

- a replica firearm was seized during the arrest.

The accused has been charged with: five counts of Robbery, Overcome Resistance- Choking, three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, five counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance, three counts of Use Imitation Firearm to Commit Indictable Offence, Mischief Under, and Threatening Death.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, August 8, 2005 at 9 a.m., at 311 Jarvis Street for a bail hearing.
