Welcome to Holmes On Homes

This is REAL reality TV. For those strange mushroom type folks that have not seen this show on HGTV, Mike Holmes is a general contractor that rips the crap out of other contractor's work when those slimy folks do a shitty job and leave the homeowners with shoddy work or take off with their money. What is really scary is, if you check the first episode of season two in the archives, you will see that this was a brand new home that he had to go in and fix because the builder reneged on the new home warranty. This show delivers a visual punch that buyer must beware and that you can get screwed with no matter the alleged quality of person you are dealing with.

If nothing else, learn that you must always seek a permit (let the city tell you that you do not need one), that you have the right to and should request to see the labourer's license to work on the job (and if they refuse, kick them off your property), and that you need to be involved when you take your hard earned cash and hand it over to someone to get work done (a lesson for all things in life as spectators end up applying for this show). Sadly, even when research is done, involvement is high, site presence is great, people are still getting ripped off. A side consequence of capitalism and lax laws.

Enjoy!
